Janice I have done some kind of arts and crafts most of my life. I wove my first basket at an Adult Ed class a lot of years ago. I continued to pursue the craft, researching styles, techniques and materials and taking classes with gifted basket weavers in New England. I am particularly interested in the baskets ot the Northeast Indians and enjoy collecting them and learning to replicate them using ash and sweet grass. Baskets I have woven include Nantucket, Shaker and Native American styles, contemporary and traditional designs, with a personal preference for the traditional. I like weaving something that can be both functional and beautiful at the same time. |

Yes - there is life after a corporate career! A basket maker and wheat weaver for only a few years, I have been creating my own designs using various weaving techniques and media. Crafts have been part of my life since childhood when I would spend countless hours learning about and making new projects with my mom. She would always encourage me to try new things and create my own designs. My creativity was placed on hold when I decided to enter the business world but soon my corporate life will be coming to an end. When I met Janice, she rekindled my passion for creativity. Hence, a new weaver was born. |
